Ok EVEVoice
I and 2 friends use EVEvoice as our primary communication mode in game and last night we were unable to get our voice coms functioning.
The strange things is that my second account on a seperate computer worked just fine both voice and music. But on my main computer as well as my 2 friends we kept getting the cannot connect to server please log into game blah blah blah.
There doesn't seem to be any common denominator that we're running 3 different OS's on mutliple sound platforms.
While I don't have full system specs here's a breakdown.
Phenom II dual core AMD Realtek sound driver win7 home premium 64bit. Working voice comms and music.
Athlon 64X2 AMD, Creative Labs USB Fatality Sound system, Win7 Home Premium 64bit. No working comms I did manage to get music running by changing launch location from shortcut in start menu to desktop.
Those two are my computers running at the same location.
AMD 64 single core, some generic MB sound system, WinXP no Voice or music. Buddies computer who lives in town.
AMD Phenom Quad core, Not sure on sound system. Win Vista 64bit (not sure on version). Buddies computer in Ohio.
As you can see this problem spans multiple OS and platform types yet at the same time 2 very similar systems are experiencing vastly different results.
I'm really hoping this issue can be addressed soon.

Ran several missions today in a frig even though frigs were not listed on the approved ship list for the mission. The mission still allowed me to run the mission ... so the coding is fine only the info on approved ships is incorrect.
Actually they just don't list the ship you are currently in on the list since they tell you up front whether whatever you are flying can pass the gate. Ergo the "you may use your Vexor to access it" bit.

Voice connected prior to patch. Have reset firewall, router, changed voice port in .ini, updated audio drivers, etc.
As I have understood, analyzing this forum, similar voice problems are on 64-bit platforms. I have made a petition too, attaching logfile there. I have downloaded new full version EVE and completely re-installed game - no effect. So, IMHO, problem there is with 64-bit OS's.
I'd say not since one of the people I know having problems with EVE Voice is running XP which is certainly not 64bit. And my computer that voice is working on is running Win7 home premium 64bit.

Originally by: SImurgl Every time new expansion/patch deployed we have so many problems and are working for free as beta-testers. Oh, sorry, not for free, we are paying for this.
It's called a shrink wrap beta and pretty much every software developer does it.
Basically no matter how good your QC and QA and extensive your prerelease testing is. Nothing stresses a software package more thuroughly than tossing it out to several thousand users running almost infinite variations of hardware.
An MMO like EVE or even more especially EVE faces additional stresses as thing that might have worked fine with 200 or even 2000 players suddenly go **** up when hit by 10 thousand all at once.
Anyone who's played MMO's for any length of time should be used to it anyone planning on playing any MMO for any length of time needs to get used to it or find a new hobby because this sort of crap happens in every game with every expansion.
This is why the vets all suggested setting long skills to train so that if the game is unplayable for a week or 2 you don't loose that training time.
Sure it sucks but such is life I have no doubt the coders are going at this like mad over at CCP and *****ing about it calling the incompetent and calling them names isn't going to make them go any faster.
The best thing to do is to gather as much data about your problem and your system bug report it post it to see if others are having the same problems and start training patience to 5.
The only suggestion I'd have to CCP in all this is to stop the damn moderators from consolidating everything into a single thread for all issues by all means try some consolodation we don't after all need 50 threads on EVE Voice but it would be useful if we could have a single thread for say Voice problems another for general audio yet another for graphics glitches (maybe even by GPU vendor). This way people could find potential solutions to their problems with out having to navigate a 27+ page threadnought. It would also give a good indicator of which problems are most prevelent by the number of responces and give he developers an easy to find source for more information on the particular issue that might not have made it into bug reports.

I was disappoint.
... but then I was glad all the brainwashing marketing is making at least someone believe this is the best we can get.
Seriously, if deploying is the only true way of detecting that the client is suddenly using more CPU or that turrets fire backwards or passwords for chat channels are not stored, etc. then we should all be very glad that we still have our boot.ini
Not everyone is having that problem it may be something specific to some peoples hardware it may have been something most people simply aren't noticing. I may be caused by the fact that the live environment has to deal with many more variables than the test environment.
Having worked in various feilds of technical support for some 15 years with much better than average understanding of how computers work. I've always said that the wonder isn't that things often don't work as intended with computers the wonder is that they work at all.
Consider the PC, The is no standard configuration. Any component could come from any number of different hardware vendors each of those components have multiple sub assemblies any of which could have a minor flaw that might only show under specific rare circumstances.
Computers in many ways have become so common place that many if not most users have no concept of just how complex these things really are.
Consider the EVE Voice issue. I have 2 computers running very similar hardware and the OS sitting side by side on my desktop. One runs EVE just fine with Voice active. The other hasn't had a working EVE Voice connection since patch day.
Now where is hte problem? Obviously EVE Voice is working on the server side since one computer can connect to it and work. Now the failure could any number of places. It's obviously not EVE Voice in general however pinning it down further than that it tricky. I know 2 other people who are also having the same problem with Voice one runs XP 32bit the is running Vista 64 and our hardware is significantly different.
This is just one of many problems that the developers are facing. Many of which like people not being able to log on have much higher priority.
This isn't an X-Box game where every disk is going to be installed on the exact same hardware running the exact same OS. This is a game has to run on litterally thousands of different hardware platforms on many different OS's.
People thinking this should be easy are seriously under estimating the magnitude of the problem.
Sure with infinite resources they could have set up 10,000 random machines and logged them all in and pent years or decades fixing every little problem. But you'd never be able to get that product for what is essentially free or even as cheaply as we get it.
Such a thrurougly vetted program would also be hopelessly dated once it actually was released and a company trying such an endevour would probably go bankrupt from lack of revenue long before any such goal of perfection would be remotely attainable.
Basically the only bugs that will stop a product from launching are game stoppers that would prevent a significant portion of the users from using in at all.
And while it most certainly sucks if you happen to be a part of that small percentage experiencing problems preventing you from using the product at all. It doesn't change the fact that it is a very small number of users experiencing these problems compared to the population as a whole.

Originally by: Hardon Thicke @ Skex........shuddup.......are you a CCP employee?? I understand about new patches and the like....every patch I have endured from CCP for the last 2 years has been buggy. But not like this.
And as we are PAYING customers...CCP could be handling this a lot better. I don't mind being patient if I knew they were addressing the issues put forth and could see some light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm feeling CCP replies to me are auto-bot generated.....how salty do you think that makes me feel??
I feel that the convention and rap videos took up too much time that should have been spent programming....but that's just me....AND ABOUT 10,000 others !!
So...today...nothing back from CCP.No mails...no new patch...no " we screwed up...no you need a new graphics card. Nothing.
I want to come pod you, Skex...if I ever get back on...you carebear.
No I'm not an employee I'm just telling you like it is plain and simple.
Yes their replies to you are probably auto-generated so what? Would you rather the people fixing the problems be taking the time to personally reply to every bug report or actually working to fix the problem reported?
OMG all these tears because you can't log onto a game for a few days? It's the end of the ****ing world... try getting out of the house a bit drop down to the local bar and have a drink who knows if you take a shower first you might even get some action with an actual female member of our species that has low standards. Just don't tell her your online name so she isn't let down when she see's the tiny thing you're actually packing.
My point to all the whinny crybabies on the thread is that this is just the way the ****ing world works. Addapt or cry mkay?
**** breaks and programs have bugs it's as constant as death and taxes and something I'm ever thankful for since this reality provides me with a steady job (no not for CCP) Crying and whining on the forums isn't going to make the programers fix it any faster.
Geeze it's a game not a ****ing career.
You pay what 15 bucks a month and the game is available to play 23 hours a day 11 months and 3 weeks of the year. yet 1 week of the year you have problems and suddenly it's all butthurt and tears.
As far as CCP communication issues give me a break they are far from stellar at the best of times. what you think they're going to suddenly become open and outgoing now when things are so hectic?
HTFU and stop the belleyaching or GBTWOW.
They'll get it fixed but this ain't a fantasy world and they aren't wizards who can wave a wand and fix the problems.
Oh and if your little ego can't take a spanking on the forums I'll be heading back to RVB in about a week and you can come and blow up some of my ships and see if you can catch my pod and you won't even have to loose a ship to concord to do it.
Carebear indeed.

BTW Hardon have tried the work around steps on the known issues page? http://www.eveonline.com/updates/knownissues.asp
"Possible Fix: Delete your cache and settings folders, then restart the client. This will clear your settings and delete your bookmark folders, but not your bookmarks. There is a page describing how to do this here "
